Power edging is an excellent way of giving your lawn the extra touch it needs to become truly beautiful. Let’s take a look at how to power edge your lawn to perfection.
Power edging can either be done manually or with a special machine. If you’re feeling like getting a bit of exercise, you’ll need either a half-moon or square bottomed spade as well as some string and wooden stakes to define the edge of your lawn. Alternatively, you can pick up a motorized power edger from your local home and garden store.
How to Power Edge
Power edging isn’t particularly difficult, but it does require a bit of finesse and technique to be done correctly.
1. Make sure you’re wearing the appropriate safety gear, including work gloves, closed-toe shoes, and safety glasses.
2. Use a string and some wooden stakes to lay out the edge of your lawn. A garden hose can be used to define curved edges.
3. Cut into the soil about 5 inches deep at a minimum 60 degree angle. Repeat this until you’ve covered the perimeter of your lawn.
4. Remove any outlying weed roots or pieces of grass that you’ve missed.
5.Enjoy a crisp, well-defined lawn!
